The people of Virginia have a chance to make history on November 2nd, 2004 !! Running for the U.S. Congress, 3rd district of Virginia, we have a bright, articulate, conservative young lady by the name of Winsome Sears. Winsome is also a retired U.S Marine!! She is running against crazy, left wing, out of touch with reality incumbent Bobby Scott. You know Bobby Scott, don't you?? He's the Congressman who voted AGAINST the War on Terror, AGAINST funding the troops, AGAINST the Bush tax cuts, BUT.......he votes FOR tax increases, FOR Gay Marriage, and FOR partial birth abortions!! THIS MAN HAS TO GO !! But, it will take money. If every FReeper sent $5.00, $10.00 or $20.00, we can "retire" Bobby Scott from the U.S. Congress!! You can make donations directly online at: www.winsomesears.com or, you can send donations to: Winsome Sears for Congress P.O. Box 362 Richmond, Virginia, 23218 PLEASE HELP!! When elected, Winsome will become the FIRST black, female, representative to Congress in Virginia State history!! Let's do it!!
BUMP!!! C'Mon everyone!! How about a few dollars to defeat left wing nut Bobby Scott!!
Monday's debate at The Dwelling Place in Newport News between six-term incumbent Bobby Scott and Winsome Sears can be counted as a victory for underdog Sears. A sharp Sears had the career politician Bobby Scott on his heels most of the night.
After both candidates took a non-negative political campaign pledge, Bobby Scott accused Mrs. Sears of negative campaigning when she tried to highlight Mr. Scott's voting record. Mrs. Sears responded with, "It's your voting record, I'm just letting the people know how you voted."
Winsome Sears asked why her opponent supported gay marriage, abortion for minors and partial-birth abortion while voting against better education and balancing the budget.
At one point in the debate, Scott implied that homosexual marriage was a civil rights issue. Many in the audience questioned how the color of one's skin or a person's gender was the same as someone choosing to be gay. God made us equal but he also made us either a man or a woman.
Scott also side-stepped the abortion issue by simply saying, "I support Roe vs. Wade." He refused to answer questions about minors having abortions or the bigger question of partial-birth abortion.
Side-stepping the issue was a popular strategy for the incumbent Bobby Scott. On issue after issue, he side-stepped questions concerning his voting record and instead attacked the Bush administration. He rarely challenged Mrs. Sears or her issues but instead turned his attention to what was going on in Washington.
Using clumsy and hard to ready charts and graphs, Scott tried to explain issues of national concern. That led one person attending the debate to ask, "Why are you talking about Washington D.C., what are you [the candidates] going to do for Hampton Roads?"
